Disappointment in Denmark

Malaysia fell to a shock 1-2 defeat in the last 16 of the Men’s World Team Championship on Wednesday.

After topping Group E on Tuesday, Malaysia was surprised by being drawn together with fifth seed Pakistan, when they are expecting an easier opponent.

Nevertheless, the show must go on, but Malaysia were not the stars on the stage during their game in Odense, Denmark.

In the first match, Ong Beng Hee’s slow start caused him to concede two early sets to hand Farhan Mehboob a 7-11, 2-11, 11-9, 5-11 win in 52 minutes.

Mohd Azlan Iskandar handed Malaysia a lifeline when he dominated the match against Aamir Atlas Khan, but eventually took the game when Aamir retired due to an injury with the score at 12-10, 8-6 to Azlan.

Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan took the first set in the deciding match, but fell to Yasir Butt 11-7, 2-11, 10-12, 9-11 in 57 minutes.-stadiumastro.com
