
Malaysian Si Yew Ming’s maiden ATP Tour campaign came to an end after he fell in the men’s doubles event on Wednesday.
Yew Ming, who was partnering Swede Joachim Johansson fell to Brazilian pair Marcelo Melo-Andre Sa 1-6, 7-5, 3-10 after a tough fight at the Putra Indoor Stadium.
Johansson-Yew Ming, who are a main draw wild card entry entered the first set with great spirits, but nervousness caused them to concede the set tamely.
It was a different ball game in the second set. A fiery Yew Ming served flawlessly to take the lead 4-1, but the Brazilian pair came from behind to tie the game at 5-5.
Johansson-Yew Ming held on to seal the second set to head the game into the third set, sending what’s left of the audience into a celebration frenzy.
In the tie-breaker, the Swede-Malaysian pair was unable to take control of the game, finally handing the set and game to Melo-Sa.
It was a gallant run for Yew Ming, who managed to clinch at least a set from a high ranking professional pair.-stadiumastro.com
